Karen Isenberg, Licensed Owner, Director, Registered Teacher
Karen is a lifelong music lover who changed careers and now enjoys teaching and bearing witness to the sheer joy of children and their adults having fun making music! Her Music Together® journey began in 2011 when she brought her then 6-week old daughter to her first East Side Music Together class with former owner and founder Jen Romanat. She fell in love with the currriculum over the next 3 years, learned to play ukulele and began performing locally.
In 2016, Karen successfully completed the live Music Together Teacher Training, which is built on research in early childhood and music development. Karen continues to keep her skills fresh through songs workshops prior to every semester (including presenting songs and ideas to Music Together teachers across the globe), and advanced trainings offered by Music Together Worldwide. She taught Mixed-Age Classes for Old Colony Music Together and subbed for area teachers before returning to teach at East Side Music Together.
Karen has performed at area farmers' markets and taught music classes at Providence Community libraries as an individual artist grantee from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. In 2023, she was added to the Rhode Island Teaching Artist Roster for her work in early childhood music. In December 2023, she took the helm as Owner and Director of East Side Music Together and considers it an honor and privilege to continue the legacy of joyful music and fun with families!
Karen lives on the East Side of Providence with her husband and daughter. Outside of music and spending time with her family, she enjoys walking her dog, listening to her favorite podcasts and playing pickleball.
